From Learning to Launch: DCA’s 2026 July Fellows Take Their First Bow

Del-York Creative Academy (DCA) proudly celebrated the graduation of its 2026 July Fellowship on August 16th, 2026. After six intense weeks of learning, creating, collaborating, failing, refining, and bringing ideas to life, the cameras rolled one last time, but this time, the students were the stars. 

The graduation event was an unforgettable evening from start to finish. What started weeks ago as mere curiosity and raw dreams officially birthed a new generation of industry-ready professionals ready for the next phase of their careers. 

The Showcase: Where Ideas Become Stories

Every creative journey begins with an idea. And these brilliant minds were not short of extraordinary concepts.

The July 2026 Fellowship spent the past several weeks discovering what it takes to birth an ordinary concept, an idea into an enjoyable piece. 

Just as the event reached its climax, filmmakers, actors, producers and other fellows mounted the stage one after another to demonstrate their skills. From powerful graduation speeches delivered through Spoken word to the brilliant cinematography reels, the showcase also included lively music videos and a limited series, titled ‘The Otunbas’. The entire display was absolutely amazing, filled with unforgettable performances that proved that these fellows are industry-ready. 

As the showcase drew to a close, the final segment featured formal presentation, awards, music, and many emotional moments. The graduates, from different creative classes, came onstage to receive their certificates from their dedicated instructors. Outstanding creative performances were also recognized. The faculty expressed immense pride in their students’ accomplishments, underscoring DCA’s model of practical learning, intense industry exposure, and deep collaboration. 

A standout moment was when Mr. Linus Idahosa, President of the Del-York Creative Academy, added immense depth to the event with his speech. He challenged the graduating fellows to step into the industry not just as job seekers, but as innovators ready to challenge norms, stay resilient through constructive criticism, and change the narrative on a global scale.

More Than a Graduation

There will, of course, be the familiar moments: the photographs, the applause, the hugs and the proud faces of friends, family, instructors, and colleagues.

But beneath all of that is something much bigger.

A room filled with people who arrived with different dreams and are leaving with new skills, new collaborators, new experiences and a body of work to prove how far they have come.

For some, this may be the first time their name appears in the credits of a production.

For others, it may be the moment they finally see themselves not simply as someone who ‘wants’ to become a filmmaker, actor or creative professional, but as someone who has started the journey.

That is the real significance of today.

The Final Frame Is Only the Beginning

Graduation has a unique way of making an ending feel like a beginning. The lights may have come down, the certificates may be collected, and the final showcase may have ended, but the real stories are only just starting.

The July Fellowship now joins a massive, growing DCA creative community of more than 3,000 students whose alumni have gone on to build stellar careers across acting, filmmaking, writing, directing, and production across more than 10 African countries. Del-York Creative Academy is incredibly proud of this cohort and looks forward to watching them rise in the entertainment industry, carrying forward the academy’s legacy.

The classroom ends here. The career begins now.
